The Big Bertha!

In case there was any doubt in what I want or need for Christmas this is what it is! I know that I am already going to get one from my brother and I am excited about that because we usually play a round of golf the first day of spring. So I am planning on going to a driving range to practice with it and of course then going to hit the big wood hard coming Spring.

Accenture Drops Tiger

Well Accenture is the first of the tidal wave of sponsors that are sure to start dropping Tiger like dead weight.  I think this is good because they need to protect their brand from the falling brand of Tiger.  He has done so much to harm the companies that supported him the least they can do is drop him and the best they can do is sue him for image infringement.  That's what I think they should do.  Get their money back.

Tiger's Disgrace

I thought that the transgressions committed by Tiger could be something I was able to ignore but after thinking about it for sometime I think it  is something that I must comment on.  If Tiger was a normal person like me it wouldn't matter to the world that he cheated on his wife and hired prostitutes.  But he is not normal.  Because he is an idol and someone that children look up to there is a need for him to hold himself to a higher moral standard.  Tiger needs to understand that his actions go beyond himself and effect many people around the world.  There is no excuse for what he did, but he must try to atone for his sins to show the world the moral and right thing to do.  He must lead by example, now more than ever.

Tiger Wins ATT National

Tiger's win in the ATT National competition was something that was quite nice as he was able to beat challenger Anthony King by 4 strokes.  It was great to watch the competition because one could say that this Anthony Kim character is an up and comer a lot like Tiger and might one day start really challenging the master for some of these majors.  Something interesting to watch at least as Tiger is starting to return to form.

Twilight Golf Fun

I hadn’t played twilight golf in a long time, at least since I was in my late twenties, but a couple of the boys from the church group went out. Play as many holes as you wanted for $18. We didn’t do that well, and I lost a bunch of balls, at least 6 but it was fun to play golf as fast as possible to try and beat the beautiful setting sun. I am sure that everyone else had a good time too, and I think we will do again soon. Of course I had to go to bed right after we were done because playing that much golf late at night really takes it out of me, I’m no spring chicken anymore.

Congrats to Lucas Glover

Congrats to the Young Lucas Glover for winning the US open with gusty putting and a driver that can’t be matched. I do have to say that I was a little let down with Tiger’s performance this year because of his lack of form and obvious frustration in front of the cameras. He seemed to lack that Tiger like composure that is always present for him and that was a little sad. I say this in no way trying to take away from what Mr. Glover did, but we all want to see Tiger return to form.

Tiger is Back!

Tiger is just getting better and better after his knee surgery and I think it's time to start calling it a comeback. Tiger came from 4 back to win the Memorial tourney in Dublin, OH today with some amazing shots of the back nine. I mean his swing was just brilliant for the entire time. With the US Open only a few weeks away this was a good warm up for Tiger to show that he's got it for sure.

Golf Hazards We all need to avoid

Well the weather is getting nicer and Tiger is back in form so I have to do a little talking about the sport of kings, golf.  It is time to break out those clubs and start warming up your swing because before you know it the links will be full of people and all of them with a better handicap than you.  But before you get out there, you should read this article to make sure you've got your game down and also are avoiding some of the more uncommon hazards of the course.  Of course this is mostly a joke, but so is your back-swing!  HA!

Woods could lose No. 1 spot

With his eight month absence from the game Tiger Woods left a vacuum in the hearts of all golfing fans around the world and it is sad to see his comeback when he is not at full strength.  I know that Tiger will get better and hopefully return to the task of taking over the record of most majors won from the Golden Bear.  However, I don't really like the idea of Sergio Garcia about to take over the no. 1 spot.  I would be fine if Woods lost it to another American like Vijay Sing or Phil, but to this Spainard I think not.  I think that Woods needs to rest, and I think it is time for other American golfers to shoulder some of the burden and continue to bring honor to the US golfing name.

Golfing Holiday Card

So now that we are in the early weeks of November it is time to send holiday cards to friends and family to let them know what you've been up to this year.  Usually, my wife and I send a card together that is something she picks out from the store.  But this year we thought it would be fun to send different holiday cards to our friends and family.  So she is sending a normal holiday card to the family and I am going to send this golfing holiday card to my friends.  We all love to golf and I think that winter gets us all down as we look at our clubs and wish for a greener day.  See below for a holiday card that is a must for all the golfers in the world.

2 hole in ones

Some day I hope to be like Bob Hickey who made two hole in ones back to back while playing a round of 18 last week.  Pretty amazing and probably just luck, but I wouldn’t mind getting lucky like that, especially since my short game has been so terrible lately.

Here is the news article

Golf Outing

As an aside, I went golfing yesterday for the first time since college and realize how incredibly terrible I am at it, now in the twilight of my life.  We played 9 holes and I was very tired towards the end.  It’s just interesting, when I played in college I was not good, but I hit the ball well and 18 holes never seemed to bother me, in fact we usually had a few beers along the way.  But now I doubt I could do 18 holes and drinking?  I would probably fall asleep under a shady tree on the 7th.  Oh well, at least it was nice to be outside on a beautiful day.
